Abstract:
One hundred and sixty milk samples of apparently healthy dairyanimals, collected from dairy farms in Sharkia Govemorate, were examinedbacteriologically for the presence of Coryneforms and competitors bacteria.Survey was conducted to determine the occurrence of Coryneforms indairy farm milk using Hoyle’s and Cystine tellurite blood agar media withisolation and identification of existed microorganisms. The obtained results revealed that 58 (36.25%) out of 160 examinedmilk samples were positive for Coryneforms. whereas, Corynebacteriumbovis, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Corynebacterium ulcerans,Corynebacterium renalae, Corynebacterium ovis, Corynebacterium equi andCorynebacterium xerosis could be isolated at varying percentages rangedfrom l.25 to 16.88. The Corynebacterium bovis was the predominantisolate.Competitor bacteria could be detected in 36 (22.5%) out of 160examined milk samples. whereas, Bacillus, Staphylococcus, Micrococcusand Lactobacillus spp. could be isolated from 17.50%,4.38%, 3.13% and2.50% of examined milk samples respectively. The sensitivity tests for isolated Corynebacteria were conducted. Theactivity percentages of different antibiotics used ranged from 0% to 100% as -recent antibiotics (enerofloxacin was highly active but old antibiotics were
