Abstract:
Experiments were carried out in this present work to study some pharmacodynamic effects of robenidine(cycostat) and spectinomycin (spectam) each alone and incombination. The results are summarized as follows:Pharmacodynamic studies of robenidine on the isolated tissue preparations:Effects on the smooth muscle preparations:Effects of robenidine on the isolated rabbit duodenum and on the uterine muscles of rats:Robenidine produced an inhibitory effect on the intestinal motility of the rabbit duodenum. By studyingthe site of action on the effect of robenidine. The re- sults revealed that it acts directly on the smooth muscle. On the other hand, robenidine produced also an inhibitory effect on the contraction of the rat uteri at different stages of the sex cycles (nonoestrus, oestrus) as wellas on pregnant uterus.Effects of robenidine on the isolated perfused rabbit’s heart and coronary outflow and ECG pattern:The drug induced an inhibitory effect on the myo- cardial activity. By studying the site of action, thisinhibitory effect was not a result of B1 adrenergic
