Abstract:
314 stray dogs were used in this work. They were collected from Sharkia, Cairo, Giza and BeniseufGovernorates. Examination of wet and permanent blood preparation revealed that six dogs were infected with canine filariasis. Four dogs were infected with Dirofilaria repens (Rilillet andHenry, 1911) and ot ne r two dogs with Dipetalon- ema reconditum (Grassi and Calandruccio, 1890).Morphological characters of the microfi- laria of these two species was carried out, beside their behaviour in wet blood smears. Other data concerning its intensity at the time of cellect-ion were grouped in special tables.A small anterior part of D reconditumcould be obtained from the subcutaneous fascia of naturally infected dogs. It was kept in permanent preparation and its characters was studied mOrphalogically and drawn by cameralucida.
