Viral infections associated with nervous manifestaions in pigeons

In the course of this investigation under experime- ntal condi tion mentioned, resul ts could be summarizedas follows: 1-- Nervous manifestatfon in pigeons usually observedin association with several infections.2 - Serological investigation revealed presence of HI antibodies against ND (PMV-I), with percentage of54% of tested sera. Corn plement fixing antibodies against PHEV were observed in 70% of tested sera.3 - Virus isolation trials resul ts in ~solation of nine haemagglutinating agents on both allantoicand chorioallantoic membranes, which later identi- f i ed asP M V - I (ND V) . 4 - Biological identification of the strains in comparasion with lasota NDV, revealed minor differ-ences among the activi ties between both isolated paramyxoviruses and La sota NDV. 5 - Experimental infection of four-week old antibodiesfree chickens against ND, showed short incubation period, depression and/or nervous manifestationwith picture of active congestion of visceral organs.
