Abstract:
The present study dealt withPiroplasmosis and its transmitting vectors in Sharkia Governorate. Also some biological st~dies on the life cycle of both Boophilus, annulatus and ~alomma anatolic~ anatolic~ were also encountered. In addition some trials were carried onthe experiment~l ~ransmission of piroplasmosis to sple- nectomized buLl calves in enzootic and non enzooticlocalities using infected blood and field collected ticks. Moreover two recent tec~~iques ( egg and Haemolymphsmears) were used to identify the susceptibility of ticks vectors for piroplasmosis • Tables, graphshistograms and microphoto were used for illustrating the resultsobtained in this study • A study on Piroplasmosis, Babesia bigemina andTheileria mutans were encountered in this investigation. The incidence of Babesia bigem~na in cows andbuffaloes in Sharkia Governorate greatly exceeds the incidence of Theileriosis, where 8.5% of eows and 2.98% of buffaloes were suffering from Babesiosis while 1.82% of cows were infected with both Theileria annulata and Theileria~tans parasite •while buffaloes were free from this
