Abstract:
The present work was undertaken to investigate the most important active principles in Sinapis arvensis L. plant. Moreover,to study the toxicological and pharmacolo- gical effects of the alcoholic extracts of the growing and flowering plant.Phytochemical screening carried out on the growing and flowering plant revealed that they contain volatile compounds, flavonoids, glycosides, sterols and/or triterpenes, tannins and resins. They are free from alkaloids and saponins The alcoholic extracts of aphic technique. Toxicity experiments which were carried out on thealcoholic extracts of growing and flowering Sinapis arvensis I plant showed that their r.ri n Lrnum lethal dose(MLD)were 1450 end 1000 and their LD50were . ~05 and 1250 mg/kg b.wt., respectively. The symptoms of toxicity of the alcoholic extracts of the pThe alcoholic extracts of growing and flowering Sinapis ervensis L. plant in concentrations more than 1:10000 and 1:50000, respectively caused marked stimulation in the force and frequency of the intestinal motility.
