Abstract:
A total of 800 individual quarter milk samples (400 each of buffaloes and cows’ milk samples) were examined for detection of subclinical mastitis. All samples were obtained from animalsshowing no signs of udder inflammation. The chlorine test showed adependability of 85.39% in case of buffalo and 86.75% in case of cow mastitic milk samples, whereas the false positive results was comparatively high. Therefore, chlorine test can not be considered as adecisive test for diagnosinpH determination proved to beunefficient for detection ofsubclinical mastitis, as the mastitic cases fell in the range 6.4 to 7.2 and the lower limit of this range lies within the range of normal milk. The recommended screening field gel tests, MWT and CMTmastitic, and thus such scores can be relied upon for detection of subclinical mastitic udders, while a negative result or a score (+) requires further confirmation. The incidence percentage of lactating animals was 50 in examined lactating buffaloes and46 in lactating cows, all were due to specific mastitogenic organisms.
