Abstract:
154 wild rats were haphazardly collected fromhouses,fields, gardens, poultry farms, bird cages and from sides of water runs in the governorates of Sharkia, Gharbia, Cairo, Giza and Beni-Suef. Using the hair-brush technique their body surfaces were thorougand Brain- Heart infusion agar plates at 37 C. Moreover, the Brain-Heart infusion agar was used for the direct 0 ting of the lungs and incubated at 26 C and 37 C. None of the known dermatophytes or diphasic fungi was obt-ained from any of the rats examined. On the other hand, many species of moulds and yeasts were recovered.
