Abstract:
Campylobacteriosis (Vibriosis) has been recognized as oneof the most important infectious diseases causing infe~tilityand abortion in cattle. There is evidence that about 40% ofthe cattle population in Egypt are infertile. Indication ofthe incidence of Campylobacteriosis in groups of cows keptin some of the governmental farms is great. It seems thatCampylobacteriosis may be a factor in the infertility problem~The present study is an integral part of a research programeto elucidate the nature, extent and cause of infertility inlocal cattle and buffaloes in Egypt.The present investigation was conducted on farms main-taining Friesian cows in Kafr-Elsheikh, North Tahrir. TaoukhTanbasha, El-Gharbia, Kaliobia, Dakahlia, Sharkia, AlexandriEI-Fayoum, Koum-Oshim, El-Menia,and AaSiut where naturalservice is used and with previous history of infertilitycharacterized by cervicitis, endometritis and abortion folIoing natunal service.
