Abstract:
Howl (Beaudettf) and Pigeon (Hungarian) pox virus 8trains have been suceessfully propagated and adapted to primary mono layers of Qhicl.cen embryo f’ibroblast cell cultures inwhich the multiplioation and cytopathic effects of thQ viruses were’determined.2.Also both ~~~aiJ:US were propagated aad adapted to CER- oell l;ne (lmby ham-e.tor kidney ~ells + ohicken embryof1bl’oblast cells) whiQh gave lower titres when titratedin emb~yon~ted eggs or in 8~cept1ble birds” .3- The ,Logarj.thmic growth period for both, types of cellculture vres between 48th anq 120th hours post1nocula~ion~and a deoroase in viral titre: occurad after the l20th - hours.4- !rhe intracellular virus was approximately one long higher than the extraoellular virus.! both tissue oulture fluids and oellB con-t~ed higher virus oonoentra»ionthan either the fluidsor cells separatel.
