Variation of some fat soluble vitamins in egg of hens according to season, diet & breed

Abstract:
Nawdays egg consUL1ption has shown a considerable increase associated with the elevation of standard of living. Moreover in Egypt foreign breeds of poultry have been imported so as to improve egg production. Itis well known that hen eggs normally contain sufficient amounts of vitamins to supply needs of the developingchick embryo through its 21 days of developing pior to hatching. This study was designed to established thenormal mean values of carotene, vitamins At D and E contents of egg yolk of some foreign breeds locally grown in Egypt as well as the varibaility of these values dueto different breeds, different rations and alternative seasons.To perform this work 300 hens egg were collected from four different breeds, these breeds were Dokki 4,white plymouth, Australoap and HNL breed. Yolk fron eachegg was subjected for assay of its carotene, vitamins A,E and D contents. Eggs were cleassified into three groups. Group I: Comprise 150 hens egg, were used for studing theeffect of breed on the fore-mentioned fat soluble vitamins. Fifty eggs were obtained from each breed of Dokki 4, white plymouth and Australoap breed, the eggs were collected during winter season from the animal and poultry Research .
