Studies on mycoplasis in dogs and cats In Egypt

Abstract:
The mycoplasma flora of various sites and organs of dogs and cats were investigated. Although the totalrecovery rate of myooplasmas from various natural orifices obtained from living dogs was 64.97%, yetit varied according to the recovery site.While the recovery rate was higher from specimens obtained from condemned dog~ in conjunctiva, nasaleavity. oropharynx and prepuce (66.66%. 100%, 77.77% and 80%, respectively) then from the same sitesexamined from living dogs (15.55%, 85%, 60% and 14%, respectively).The rate was higher from living dogs where they showed more vaginal colonization with mycoplasmas(80%) than condemned dogs (75%).The incidence of mycoplasmas in the upper respirator~r tract shows a descending pattern.Although the total recovery rate from cats was 26.92%,it varied according to the recovery site. The highestincidence was present in the oropharynx (53.84%). Recovery rate was similar from both conjunctivae
