Abstract:
In this study a total of 396 male rabbits were used, theywere. divided into 3 main groups each of 32 animals, 110 ofwhich were irradiation ana 22 used as control.Irradiation of animals were performed using the siemersstabilipan type (300 KV, 14 - 8 M.A.) cu filter and 2 cu halfvalve thickness (H.V.T.) focus treating distance (F.S.D.) was50 cm dose rate 96,2 rad/minute at doses, 5OR., 150 R& ’500 Rwhole body.Animals were sacrified at 2H, 4H, 6H, IlH, 24H, 48H,72H, 1 week, 2 week, 3 week, and 1 month post irradiation, autopsied and eosinophil count, Histopathology and Histochemistryof adrenal cortex were performed. The results showed that no physical chunges in animaloohaviour or equilibrium, also no variation in the Histopatho-l~ical picture than the control, except at 12 H (500 R) con-qested blood vessels, witb some haemorrhagic areas were notice,t~ether with the presence of lacunae composed of degeneratedcells & some were invaded by inflammatory cells.Adrenal activity was tested by the eosinophilic count atdifferent times of sacrification: at 50 R activity was from4H to 6H: at 150 R was from 4H till l2H: while at 24H a marked .
