Abstract:
In the present study, the effect of chlorpromazine, propionylpromazine and reserpine on cerebrospinal fluid ~d serum constituents were studied in anaesthetised dogs at time intervals of )0, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes. The experiments were carried out on 7 equal group of 5 dogs each • The effect of anaesthesia on cerebrospinalfluid and serum consti turmts was studied on a separate of dogs and the effect of each drug at two doselevels was studied on two separate groups. The obtained resul ts were sta ti tical1y analysed and compared w1 th those of the control group at the same time. The present results showed the following changes: injection of chlorpromazine in a dose of1.0 mg/Kg b.wt. produced a significant decrease in glucose level in cerebrospinal fluid after )0, 120 and180 minutes and in serum after 60 minutes, whereas its injection in a dose of 2.0 mg/Kg b.wt. caused a signif-i~t increase in glucose level in CSF and serum
