Abstract:
The present work wa.s devoted to study the role of an oral combined done of glibenclamide with oxaloaceta.te intreatment of the metabolic disorders induced in ratsinjected with alloxan. This combined treatment. was comparedwith tl1at of insulin. This included thew.ly,s;i.::p);>t: blood, glucose; ketone bodies, serum ; total \lip:id:i.;·J~sat1iinases(G.P4T. & G.O.T.) and liver glycogen. The·liY.SJJ.d· pancreatic B-cells were also studied histopathologically.Fourty normal rats were sacrificed for obtaining the normal data. Diabetes was induced in 270 rats by injectionof afLoxan , The experimental rats were classifi-d accordingto the do ce inj”ected into 3 group8 as follows : -Group I injected I.V. with a do se of 40 mg , clloxan/Kg.B.wt.Group 11 injected I.V. with a dose of 60 mg. alloXID1/Kg.B.wt.Group ill inj ected I. V. wi-th a. dose of 100mg.al,loxan/Kg.B. wt.-Each individual group was subdivided into 3 subgroups :-Subgroup A : used as control for alloxan diabetes.-Subgroup 13 : treated daily with subcutaneous injection ofinsulin for eleven successive days.
