Abstract:
The incidence of nutritional encephalomalacia in Banha chickens farm was studied. Biochemical estima-tion of a-tocopherol (vitamin E) in sera, livers and rations revealed that:The mean value in sera of symptomatic and asympto-matic birds on the same farm were 0.418 :ng./100 ml.and 0.411 mg/100 m.l , respectiv,’?ly t versus 1.182 mgl100 ml. in control ones.- The mean value of a-tocopherol in liver of sympto-matic and asymptomatic birds were 0.931 mg./IOa gm. and 0.933 mg./IOO gm. respectively versus 1.698 incontrol ones. - The mean value of a.-tocopherol in rc.tion of aff8ctedflock was 0.738 mg./10a gm., versus 1.730 mg/100 gm, in commer-c iaj. balanced orie , - Histolog:_cel oxam tna t Lon of the brain 0 f affect edbirds showed that celebellum WC.S the predilection si t cs for the lesions wh.i.ch cho.racterized rna Ln Ly byo edemo., degenero. t ion of the purkinj e cells .
