Abstract:
Summary:- Sera were collected weekly from 10 experimentallyinfected calves with eggs at’ ’I’aen.i a saginata and treatedwith Praziquantelt as well as 2 non-infected ones assource of the control sera beside 200 sera collectedfrom cattle slaughtered in Cairo abattoir, identifiedto 8 positive and 192 negative to cysticercus bovis inthe routine post-mortem inspection.The latex agglutination test was applied on seracollected from the experimentally infected group aftertne adjust:nent of the optimal time and temperature ofincubation, suitable buffer as well as the optimal an-t1 - ’en dilutions. It was f oun d that incubation at 56°Cfor 180 minutes by th.e use of glycine buffer is theoptimal c ond i tions. ’1’he antigens dilutions 1: 2000 and1:1000 from Taenia saginata fu~d the larvae of Taeniacrassiceps were tile most suitable clilutions by whichclear positive or negative reaction were obtained~The latex agblutination test was found unsuitablefor the detection of bovine cysticercosis due to lackof’ specifici t y , ’I’her-ef’or e, tile 20, sera collected fromthe Egyptian slaughtered cattle we::c subjected only to
