Abstract:
Thirty fi ve rabbi ts in the age of 5 week month of both sexes were used in this work. These rabbi ts weredi vided into 7 equal groups, Six groups were infested orally with .§..stiedae in a dose of 7000/2ml infective sporulated oocysts. The 7th group was used as a cont-role The oocysts of E.stiedae were ovoidal to ellipso-idal in shape. Their wall were smooth, & yellowish toorange in colour. The anterior end is narrower thanthe posterior one, flattened and contain ed an indestinctmicropyle. The infected rabbits were slaughtered at different periods, on the .5.!:J2., 10th, 15.!:J2., 20.!:J2., 35th and 50th day post-infection.Clinical symptoms included sluggish movement, reduction in weight gain, emaciation and ruffled fur.Ascitis could b e- seen in group 5, 6.Two rabbits from group 6 died during the experi-ment.MacroscopicallyThe Iiver0 finfected rabbits wereen Ia rged with the presence of small grayish white necroticnodules of their hepatic tissue. The gall bladderswere enlarged and distended with bile secretion. In group 5,6 the hepatictissue mostly replaced by
