Abstract:
The present work was done to overcome one of the most serious problem among newborn and young calves ”Dehydration” which causes great economic lossdue to losses of body weight and even death in negle-cted untreated cases. The clinical cases (149 scouring dehdyrated calves from a total number of 274 Friesian calves)and experimental works (3 experiments, each one cont- ained 3 female Friesian calves) revealed that themain causes of dehydration were:1- Excessive loss of body fluid through gastro-intes- tinal tract including:1) Dietetic diarrhoea which play an important role in evoking dehydration.2) Enteric infection specially Escherichia coli innewborn calves under one month old.3) Parasitic infestation with Eimeria spp in caIves more than two months old.
