The forty bovine animals, included buffaloes and Cows, were admitted to the clinic of surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University, of which 23 were suffering either traumatic reticulitis (10 cowsand 3 buffaloes) or complete uterine torsion (3 cows and 7 buffaloes). These affected animals were used to study theeffect of surgical trauma in the form of rumenotomy or caesarian section. The sixty stray dogs which proved to be clinically normal were divided into three groups. The first groupwas used for studying the effect of surgical trauma of different degrees (gastrotomy, ovariohystrectomyand nephrectomy) either with or without postoperative fluid therapy. The second group was used for studying the effect of blood loss of different degrees while the last groupwere subjected to acute haemorrhagic shock and a trial for its treatment.
