Abstract:
In the last few years, brucellosis in Egypt became a large problem for .. many animal breeders and attempts havefailed to control the disease in farms where vaccination of infected cases had been carred out. Moreover, public health problems should be expected due to consumption of milK andmi l K products from the infected farms. Cephalosporins have gained increased used in veterinarymedicine for treatment of bacterial infections. The thirdgeneration cephalosporins retain the safety of the first andsecond generation products but differ in their lower minimuminhibitory concentration and longer half lives. The presentstudy was planned to study the effect of cefoperazone ”as one member of 3rd generation” on bruc e 11 aorganisms in vitro and in vivo using experimentally infectedguinea pigs, in addition to its effect on immune responseto 519 vaccine in guinea pigs. The serological tests were applied to evaluate the effect of cefoperazone on humoral antibodies
