Studies on the deveiopment of tissue cuiture vaccine for vaecinia virus

The results achieved in this thesis can be summarized as follows:_1. The three employed seeds virus of vaccinia, viz., calf lymph, rabbit adapted and egg adapted seedswere propagated on primary calf kidney cells, primary goat kidney cells and primary goat testicular cellsrespectively. It was found that the rabbit adapted seed virus gave the highest titre on primary goatkidney Cells (108.8+ PFU/m1.).2.The passape of the three seeds virus in the three primary cell cultures resulted in gradual reduction ininfectivity titre till the fourth passages. Also the reauction in the infectivity was ass~ciatcd withreduction in the antigen titre as measured by CFT and FAT.3.
