Abstract:
The present thesis has been completed in two parts, the first part dealt with isolation of salmonella organisms from clinically normal field and slaughtered cases of sheep and goats. In the second part attempts were made to study the pathological and cJ.iTwo hundred and seventy-nine rectal swabs were examined bacteriologically from clinically normal sheep as well as from 23 cases suffering from diarrhoea. One hundred and thirty—seven swabs were collected from apparently healthy goats and U. samples from gProm slaughtered sheep three hundred samples were collected (100 samples from each of bile, mesentric lymph nodes and intestinal contents).SalmDn1ia wa recovered from 23 (6.1%) out of 379 sheep and ftorn 3 eases (2.2%) of 137 goats.
