Abstract:
The immunogenic capacity of the current. FMD aluminium gel vaccine was studied under experimental and fieldconditions in 371 cattle and buffaloes 2- It was revealed that gel vaccines provoke relatively low antibody titres which were likely to withstandinfection for about 4 months post-vaccination.3- A suitable antigen was prepared from strain °1/2/72Egypt and tested for infectivity, antigenicity and140 S particle content. Trials then were made to formulate an oil emulsion vaccine using some available local chemicals in comparison with standard Difco incomplete Freund’s adjuvant. 4- The prepared oil vresults corresponded to 75-100 percent protection in cattle and buffaloes.5- Immune assay of antibodies developed in 4 vaccinated cattle and 4 buffaloes - using oil vaccinee -presented much improved titres which were likelyto be maintained for several months.
