Abstract:
The present study was carried out on 156 clinical-ly healthy adult male and female ( non-pregnant) guineapigs. Thirty guinea pigs from both sexes were used forhistochemical and routine histological studies. Therest were divided into groups each of three animals andeach experiment wa s done on seven groups. The aim of the present research is to contributethe knowledge of the guinea pigs liver and pancreasunder certain metabolic and hormonal conditions. Thismvestigation was undertaken to seek semiquantitative’information concerning the relative activity of certainzymes and metaboli tes to bring important new under-,tanding of the function of the liver and its relation-ip to the endocrine and exocrine panc r-ea s , The presentta demonstrated the histochemical activities in thever and pancreas during glucose infusion as well as;a deficiency as induced by starvation are• greatlyoiated in the liver which are metabolically reflec-to the pancreatic parenchyma and islets. In ad-ion. the hormonal products of the pancreas wereymatically controlling the mechanism in the liver,eH. as in the pancreatic parenchyma. This was doneour experimen ts by d estruc ting alpha cells withIt chl0ride causing g Lucag on deficiency_ The !!l””ion of diabetes mellitus by reducing insulin level .
