Abstract:
The present investi~ation dealt with Taenia taeniae- formis in cats and its larval stage Cysticercus fascio1arisin the livers of will and albino rats. Infestation rate and seasonal dynamics for both the adult worm in stray cat and its larval stage in wild rats in Giza Governorate and albinorats were carried out. It was found that the infestation rate in stray cats W3.s 37 .• 025%, being 64.85% in females and 11.1% in males. The infestation was high in winter (55.5%)and low in summer (17.6). The LncLdeuce of the larval stage in wild rats was 14.57%. It was high in spring and winter (24.14% and 22.92%) and low in autumn and summer (3.92 and4.76%); but among albino rats, it was generally low being 1.59%. Seasonally, it was hi~h in spring being 2.34% and in the other seasons ran~ed between 0.91 to 1.33%. ~erimental infection of kittens with Cysti~ercus fasciolaris ~hDwai that the prepatent pethe small intest:’_nc (6’; ,S~”, -”>3.3%) followed by the anteriorpart (16.7% - 25%) while the pasterior part was feee.
