Abstract:
In Egypt poultry now is considered as an importantsource of animal protein9 the use of food additives orconditioning drugs to its ~ation in order to increasetheir production attracted our attention to study thetoxic action that may occur• as a result ’of addition ofsome of these c-ompounds (Catos8.l and arrhynal) thatare added for the previous reason on chicken. Our studyincludes 3 parts:The’ first part deals w i, th t he toxicity and symp-tomes of both compounds in cocks. from our study itcan be concluded that the LD50 of butaphosphan incocks is 9. 974 g/kg B. wt. Signs of butaphosphan toxicj_tyincludes depression, incoordination and diarrhoea, thenthe cocks laid down unable to move with DROPed wings, respiration was rapid followed by gasping and death. While the calculated LD50 for the disodium methyl arse-nate was found to be 2.245 g/kg B.wt. Symptomes of tox-icity were lamness and staggering gait, whitish diarrh-oea and thirst then the cocks laid down motionless witttheir peak on the ground. Respiration was sha.Ll.ow, .~apidirregular followed by death.
