Abstract:
The present work was performed to investigate the pharmacodynamic and neph~otoxic effects of netilmicin.Concerning the pharmacodynamic studies, netilmicin at concentrations of 10 and 20 ug/ml bath had no effect on the motility of guinea pig’s ileum, 40 ug/ml bath produced slight inhibition in the force of contraction, but 80 ug/ml bath produced marked inhibby 800 ug/ml bath. Netilmicin in concentrations of 10 and 40 ug/ml bathhad no effect on the motility of isolated rabbit’s duodenum. Concentrations of 80 and 100 ug/ml bath produced slight inhibition in the force but 200 and 800 ug/ml bath caused marked inhibition in the force and complete relaxa~ tion was produced by 1600 ugsite of action of netilmicin on the intestinal motility was proved to be myogenic in nature.20 ug/ml bath netilmicin had no effect on the contrac- tility of isoalted rat’s colon but 40 ug/ml bath hada slight inhibitory effect on the force of contraction but at concentration of 80 and 100 ug/ml bath produced markedinhibition in the force and rate of contraction. Completerelaxation was achieved by 400 ug netilmicin/ml bath.
