Red Urine In Cattle, Incidence, Causes and Treatment

Abstract:
This work wasdesigned tostudy incidence,causes and treatment of red urine in cattle and buffaloes at Sharkia Governorate. Out of 1483 cattleand 3713 buffaloesclinicaly examined at three differentlocalities in Sharkia Governorate wereexamined clinicaly through a year. 124 cattle and262 buffaloes were found voiding red urine (8.36% and 7.06 %) in cattle and buffaloes respectively. 42cattle (2.83%) and 89 buffaloes (2.4%) proved to be due to hypophosphataemia. 70 cattle (4.72%) and 151buffaloes (4.07%) proved to be due to babesiasis while cystitis appeared in 12 cattle (0.61%) and 22 buffaloes (0.59%). The number of investigated animals 58 cattle and96buffalees(2-12 years of age). Blood and urine samples were collected from diseased anAll samples were collected from May 1986 till April 1987 after car examination. The samples fromtreated cases were collected within one month after treatment. The diseased animals were grouped according to the cl inical symptoms and laboratoryinvestigation of both urine and blood . The results could be summarized as follows:
