Abstract:
250 soil samples were collected from 21 parts in Egypt. All samples were examined by hair-baiting technique for dermatophytes, while only 192 samples were examined by animal inoculation for yeasts and by direct plating for moulds. The hair-baiting techniqsamples (24 %), Chrysosporium keratinophilum fro~ 50(20%) and Chrysosporium indicum from 15, (6%).Yeasts were isolated from 90 our of 192 soil samples examined’. The highest incidence (100 %) was recorded in Sharkia, El Fayoum and Bani Swef. 78.9% of the isolates belonged to genus Torulopsis, 20 % to Candida and 1.1% to Rhodotorula.
