Abstract:
The materials used in the present study were collected during the examination of 675 camels, 4210 sheep and 2645pigs slaughtered at Oairo abattoir at a period extended from September, 1981 to the end of June, 1982. Camels proved tobe the most frequent animal species harboured hydatid cysts in Egypt as 36.59% of the examined cases were found to be infested. Pigs were found to possess the second situationamong animals wPich were proaed to harbour hydatid cysts as 6.05% of the examined animals were infested.The lowest incidence of hydatidosis were recorded among sheep as only1.28% of the investigated. cases were infested.Concerning the location of hydatid cysts in camel and pig’s, it was observed that pulmonary infections in all the examined cases were higher than hepatic infections as 70.84%and 89.92% of the infected camels and pigs showed pulmonary infection, while 29.16% and 10.08% showed hepatic one, res- pectively. Contradictory, all hydatid cysts collected fromsheep were found in the liver.
