Studies on chronic endometritis in cows and duffaloes in Egypt

Abstract:
(1) Uterine fJamples from 60 snmples were collected fromhealthy normal bovine (31 cows and 29 buffaloes) andwere seeded on El. vnriety of culture media and incubatedin order not to miss any organism that might need somespecial requirements. Out of the total examined samples,2 buffaloes samples (6.9>0) preyed to be bacteriologicnllysterile. While all cows samples preved to bo bacteriol-ogically positive.(2) A variet y of micro-organisms were isolated from non-pregnant buffaloes and cows samples, the most importantof which were: StaQh. aureus, Str. bovis, S-[;r. pYQ&enes,Str. zymogenesp C. bovis~ unclassified corynebacteria?E .• coliand aerobacter species in their order of f’r-e qu-ency.(3) The results revealed the fact that;during the oestrusphase, the percentage of bacteria is~~ted was muchlower than that obtained during c.lioestrus in buffaloesand cattle.It was also preved that animals suffering from in--active ovaries showed bigh percentage of the isolatedbacteria than those affected with follicular cyst.
