Abstract:
1. Cl. welchii type B toxin was demonstrated from the intestinal contents of 2 out of 141 sheep examined.2. Out of 252 samples obtained from different parts of alimentary tract of normal slaughtered sheep 176 werefound to contain viable count of Cl. welchii: 48 samplescontain Cl. welchiitype A, 73 contain Cl. ~elchii ty~e Dand 55 contain non toxigenic strains. uor-e ov e r , Cl. welchiicount were conducted from all samples examined and thegreatest number were found in the ileum.3. Sterile culture filtrate of Cl. welchii type C and D were stored at different temperature also the filter-ates were mixed with ovine intestinal contents and tested for toxic potency for determining the rate of deterioration of the tested toxins under the different storage conditions.4. Experimental production of enterotoxaemia was carried out. The animals w~ich kept on concentrate rationsand dosed with Cl. welchiitype At C and D were died, whilethose kept only on hay and dosed with the previous clostri-dia remained normal.
