Abstract:
The possible sourQes of infection with Clostridiumtetaniwere traced, refDrdinc the distribution and inci-dence in some different hebitates in Egypt.1.In the preseLt investigation 1060 samples from giffe- rent sources were examined as follows :545 faecal samples from dL’ferent species of fal’m a n Lma Ls ,310 ruminal samples, 170 soil samples and 35 samples from wounds.2.The simple and econ8mic cooked meat media were effi- cient for the pri!1&ry isolation of C19stridium. ~tanias the other enriched media; thiaglycollate broth andcooked meat media cont&ini.ng neomycin B.Sulph&te.3. With comparative stuJy of five solid media :_ Plain blood agar gave the best results forisolation and growth of the organismThese two media were used for th~ routine iso~tion in the present study.4.The total isalE,tes were 332 strains from the whole collected samples, with a percentape of 31.32 %.
