Abstract:
Forty six pancreas of fat tailed sheep were used in this work. T-rlelve specimens ewre used for the anatomicalstudies of the main pancreatic duct and its tributaries within the entire orean and thirty :four specimens were usedfor the histological and histoenzymological studies.The results can be summarised as follows 1. The capsule and trabeculae of the pancreas of sheep cont af.ned a high amount of elastic fibers. Aggregations of fat cells v/ere found in the interlobular connectivetissue septa. Also, arnpullated blood spaces were found intra - and interlobularly.Reticular net was found to support the exocrine parenchyma within the pancreatic lobules On the other hand pancreatic islets had no internal supp-ort.2- The pancreas ef sheep had a single main pancreatic duct which joined the bile duct before its entrance into theduodenum. This duct V!aS formed by the confluence of three interlobar due ts, the largest of” then drained the right lobe,
