Abstract:
Guinea pigs and chickens are widely used as experimentalnimals for the diagnosio of tuberculosis infections. It ioinee. to study the effects of the experimental infection on~he blood picture and serum chcr.J.istrics of these animals for~hc sake of diagnosis and differential diagnosis between:typical (bovine, human and avian) and atypical O!.!c8;11sasiiand M;scrofulaceum) types of Qycobacterin.Specinl attention,,waG also paid to the semen picture of the maLo guinea pigsand the histopathological changes in the different organs ofall the animals used in the experiment.Five groups of guinea pigs were uncd , Each groupcomprised 56 animals. 32 were inoculated with the infectingorganism and 24 kept as controls. Animals under experimentationin each group were injected i/m in the right thigh; eachwith one ml of the infective inoculum (1 mg in case of typicalstrains and 20 t:1g in case of atypical mycobacteria).Thirty two chickcns were used for expo r’Lmerrt a.L aviantuberculoois infection and 24 remained as controls.
