Abstract:
The present work is an attempt to study some respirat- ory functions of blood and the related hematological para-meters of three types of horses. These animals are complete- ly different in respect to their breeds, type of work and management, body size, degree of training and behavioural activity, racing type of Arabian breed, riding type of Egyptian native breed, The influence of sex, and season on hematological parameters and respiratory functions of blood of each type of horses is also scrutinized.The present investigation revealed the following results :-(1) Normal hematological parameters of different types of horses :-The erythrocytic count (RBCs in lo6/ul),hemoglobin concentration (Hb in g.%) , packed cell (PCV in vol.%)mean corpuscular volume (MCV in cu. u.), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH in u ug.) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC in %) of the three different types of horses are studied (racing,
