Abstract:
1) The aim o£ the presentinvestigation was for studying factors that may play role in the predisposi-tion, occurance of NMD , as well as its clinical symp-toms, P!M. finding, histopathological pictures andprophylactic measures, of this problem among Egyptiansuckling buffalo-ca). vea,2) Determination of soil, whole blood, serumselenium levels and enzymatic activity of glutathioneperoxidase as well as the relationship between blood,serum selenium with enzymatic activity of GSH-EX in®parently healthy suckling buffalo-calves revealedthat, blood, serum selenium levels were 59.86j,:17.56 tAg!lOOml and 33.66 +18.34 lftg/100ml, respectivelly. Blood- ,GSH-PX activity was 6.74 ±.4.45 e.wgm lib.Highly signi-ficant postitive relationshil> was found between bothwhole blood, serum selenium and blood GSH-PX with reg-ression equation. of y Se ::. 22.85 x -35.022- on the otherhand soil selenium level in Egypt was found to befO.!5 ppmwhich appeared to be adequete and within normal levelreported in many countries.3) Studying the effect of colostrum and age ontocopherol and blood GSH-EX acti vi ty as well as somemuscles pe ard c enzymes and magnesium levels in apparently
