Abstract:
It is known that a consid2rable number of the newborn buffalo calves can be lost within the first few weeks of life. Enteric and respiratory infections are of considerable economic imDortance and are usuallyassociated with faulty management or bad hygiene result- ing in high mortality and morbidity rates. The present study aimed to defincing the interaction of managem~nt, feeding and system ~f rearing on calf mortality.The study was conducted on calves produced from a herd of buffaloes kept on Ein-Shams Univ., Faculty ofAgriculture. The investigation was well coordinated with a research programn of milk replacers.A total of 54 buffalo calves was us~d in the study , Individualidentification and general vigor of the calf were recorded soon after birth. Animals werekept under continual obs~rvation throughout the experi- mental p2riod. Animals were assigned into five compara- ble gropps, natural milk was given to the control group
