Clinicopathological studies on goat following experimental infection with the rift valley virus

Abstract:
The purpose of this investigation is to study the developmental changes in 14 young native goats and Jcontrols, of clinical manifestation, clinical,pathology histopathology and detection o~ the virus f±om tissueso~ goats a~ter experimental inoculation with RVF virus Blood and tissue specimens were collected at variousintervals ,starting from 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, 120 144 and 192 hours post infection, of goats for variousstudies. Results are.1- Remarkable therma.l response Was noticed at 24 to 96 hours while one goat had no thermal reaction, thehigher temperature Was accompanied by hurried re~pi- ration ,rapid pulse and congesion o~ mucous membranes2- Clinicopathological changesrevealed significant increase in clotting time at 0 to 24 hours p.i. and24-69 hours (PL 0.05than control ones , a decrease in prothrombin percent-age at 0 to 24 hours (PL 0.001) and 24-96 hours (PLO.OOl). Marked leucocytosis in infected goats a:24-96 hours p.i. (PL0802) and 96-192 hours p.i.(PL 0.01) , the dif~rential leucocytic percentage showed increase in neutrophile at 24 hours to 96 hrp.i.
