Abstract:
A total of 40 epididymes were used in the present study. Samples were taken from rams of different age. The epididymes were separated from the testes. Each epididymis was divided into 6 regions; threeregions from the head, one region from the body and twoThe-prepared sections were stained by different stains. The epididymis was surrounded by a thick tunica albuginea whichcould be demarcated into an outer dense fibrous layer and inner looserlayer that showed many blood vessels. The tunica albuginea coveringthe ascending, first region of the head of the epididymis showed many valved veins as well as loops of efferent ductules. The efferent ductules formed convolutions occupying the major part of the ascending, first region of the head. The epididymal duct could be demarcated into three histologically distinct segments; initial, middle and terminal segments. The principal cells showed structural modification in correlationto function and appeared with different microscopic features, Suchstructurally variable cells were described as kenociliated, stereo-ciliated, clear, narrow and apical cells.
