Pharmacological and toxicological studies on some herbicides

The aim of the present study was to investigate some pharmacological and cides (Paraquat, Dual and Sencor).I- Pharmacological studies:A) Effect of tested herbicides on smooth muscle:Effect of Paraquat, Dual and Sencor on isolated smooth muscles revealed a dose dependent inhibitory effect of theherbicides on the intestinal motility of rabbit duodenum as well as ruminal tissue. Their actions were proved to be direct effect on the smooth muscles of isolated preparations.The Paraquat herbicide at low concentrations stimulated the force and frequency of contractions of rats uterine musc- les in all stages of sexual activities with different variations.On the other hand, at higher concentrations of the herbicideits effect was inhibitory on uterine musculature.Dual stimulated the force and frequency of contraction of rats uterine muscles in all stages of’ sexual acti vi ties •. Meanwhile, Sencor produced inhibitory effect of the force and frequency of contraction of rat uterine muscle in all stages of sexualactivi ties.B) EffectiSon ruminal gas production of cows:Paraquat, Dual and Sencor significantly increased theruminal gas fermentations by increasing the ruminal gas prod-.uction significantly at different concentration and at different
