Abstract:
Sixteen clinically normal Rhamany sheep aging from1.5 - 2.0 years, were employed in this study. They wereused to study the effect of feeding different chemicallytreated wheat straw on serum glucose, urea, total protein, total bilirubin, glutamic oxalacetic trans~minas~, glutamicpyruvic transaminase as well as pev , haemoglobin, erythro-cytic count, leucocytic count. The study was extended to in-vestigate pH of the rumen, ruminal ammonia nitrogen, ruminaltotal and individual volatile fatty acids, nutritive analysisof the ration, digestibility coefficient, feeding value, bodyweight and histopathological changes.Significant increase in serum urea, total protein andglutamic oxalacetic transaminase was observed, while, theerythrocytic count and pev were significantly decreased.Serum glucose, total bilirubin, serum glutamic pyruvictransaminase, leucocytic count and haemoglobin content werenot significantly altered.Rumen parameters,pH , ammonia nitrogen, total and in-dividual volatile fatty acids, were not significantly changed.
