Parasites in slaughtered camels

One thousand and tour hundred camel carcases atCairo abattoir were examined for hydatidosis.The percentage of infestation with hydatids was20.93% The incedinse of hydatids in lungs, liverboth lungs and liver and hea:t7t was 86.69%, 9.9~).07% and 0.34% rest>ectively.The shape of hydatid cysts collected fromlungs and liver were rounded oval or variableshape. The mean dimensio~s of the lung hydatidcysts were 3.46 X 2.58X, 2.14 cm with a mean sizeof 23,76 cm3., mean weight 22.1 gm and cantains 15.93 ml.hydatid fluid. Microscopica1 examination of the lungdhyda~1d cysts revealed that 69.651 9~83%t 13.68% and6.38% were fertile, sterile, caseated and calcifiedcysts respectively.The dimensions of liver hydatid cysts had a meanvalue of 3.2 X 2.9 X 1.8 cm with a mean size of 21.7 cm3and mean wei t of 22.1 gm. The size of hydatid fluid hada mean value of 11.8 ml.
