In this work, studies ’::ere c orxduc t e d on the prevalence of HI anti bodies in equine serum samples collected between 1980/1981 against both equine influenza viruses: A/ equi-l/Prague/l/56 (Heql’ Neql) and A/equi-2/Miami/l/63 (Heq2 Neq2 ) tmd human influenza A/Texas/77 CH3 N2) strain. AttemJts wereout for Ls o La t Lon of influenza virus from EgyptianMoreover, studies were done on some physical and ~iolC’gical properties of A/equi-l, A/equi-2 and A/Texasfrom 481 equine serum sam o Le a collected from differentin Cairo, 5.40% were positive against A/equi-l/ ague strain giving a titre range from 1/10 to 1/40, the.stribution of HI titres were high for 1/10 and 1/20 reached 19.23% of positive cases respectively. The highest of positive cases were in vliil.ter, 6.09%, the leastinaut’umn, 2.94%. Only 3.53% of equine serum samo.Les ire positive against A/equi-2/Miami strain, the highestonal incidence w s in autumn 5.88%.Concerning human influenza virus iVTexas/77, 11. 22% ofwere positive. The highest percentagepositive cases we re ’ in wi nt e r 13.62%, the least were in15.88%. The distribution of HI antibodies v/ere 79.62%for 1/10, 1/20 and 1/40~~espectively.
