Abstract:
The effect of carbon tetrachloride in the immunolo- gical reactivity in chickens. a) Chicks:1) 200 chicks of one day old were divided into fourgroups, group 1 was kept as control, group 2 was given cc14 daily in a dose of 0.1 ml/kg b.w. for 5 successive dass, group 3 was given cc14 then vacc-inated with lentogenic eye DROP vacc ine t group 4 was only vaccinated.2) Io ca Ld.ae d haemolysis in gel, from vacc inated birds with ~ewcastle disease vaccine, showed high increaseof plaque forming cells (90 PFC/l06 spleen cells) on the fourth day post vaccination while in those givencc~ + vaccine showed a significant decrease (44 PFC /106 spleen cells). In vaccinated chicks the average number of rossette forming cells at the f ourth day post vacc ina tion was(16100 H]IC/I06 spleen cells and 18350 mlC/I06 leuco-cytes) in spleen and buffy coat respectively, whilein those given cc14 + vaccine were (10500 HFC/I06 spleen cells and 11’700. RFC/I06 leucocytes). Haemagglutination inhibition antibodies from sera ofvaccinated chicks reached its highest titre (-1-) at
