Abstract:
Jlicro·sperwit.· gypseum isolates recovered from Egyptian soU were examined tor their capability ofhaemagglutinating red cells of different animals and birds” All isolates were found to agglutinate chick~n, duck ,nd sheep red cells but there was distinct var-j.ation. in the .. titre of. haemagglutination Microsporum gypseum iSQlate lio ~ ”F’ 37 - 82 which·gave a high haemagglutination titre in the pre1 i mi nary studies)was selected for fUrther studies ~During the course of subculturing a Tarient wild emerged from the or1ginal~isolate which produced onlymicroconidia but not macroconid1a •Both the wild isolate ( numerous macroconid1a and. few microconidia ) and mutant form ( only micro’:’conidia ) were used thruoghout this study • Studies to standirdize the haemagglutination test reveal.ed that the optimum conditions for the testwere I O.!5 % chicken red blood cells , 2~O % fungal Buspension t pH ~7 and incubation’ at room temperature •Tile best age of the culture was ,- 4 weeks •
