Influence of thyroidand ovary on clearance of fcllicle stimulating hormone

The present investigation was planned to evaluate therate of synthesis, release and utilization of exogenousand endogenous gonadotrophins in adult female rats. Spec- ial attention was directed to clarify the role of thethyroid gland in this respect.For this purpose, three experiments were designed.In the first experiment .- 80 rats were classified acc ord- ing to the stages of estrus and diestrus and injectedintravenously with 100 i.u. PMSG. The rate of disappear-ance of this hormone from the circulation of 5,20 and 40minutes from its injection and the FSH contents of the pituitaries of these rats were determinedIn the second experiments 40 female rats were Ovari- thyroidectomized- ovariectomized. These rats were divi-ded into four equal, The first was considered as control The rate of disappearance of this hormone. after 5,20 and 40 minutes from its injection was determined. The FSH contentsof the pituitarus of these rats were also determined. injected with phosphate buffer and the others with PMSG.
