Some Toxicological studies on prosopsis stephaniana plant

Abstract:
Prosopis stephaniana is one of the wild perennialpoisonous plants belonging to the great family Leguminosaeinhabiting Western Oases of Egypt Kharga and Dakhla.The poisonous plant Prosopis stephaniana used in ourstudy was collected during March and August from the .NewVally Province.Concerning the phytochemical investigation of theplant, the percentage of total moisture, relative moisture,fat, ash, acid insoluble ash, total protein and crodealcoholic extract in stem, leaves and pods of.the plant weredetermined.It was found that the percentage of total moisturebeing 10.89, 18.75 and 10.36 , the relative moisture being,6.5, 7.5 and 11.0 ~ the fat content being 2.81, 6.62 and3.40 gm%, the ash being 4.33, 9.04 and 4.92%, acid insol-uble ash being 0.533, 1.91 and 0.750 gm% the total proteincontent being 3.3, 12.22 and 11.55 gm% and the crude alco-holic extract being 1.35, 2.49 and 1.06 gm% in the stem tleaves and pods of the plant respectively.The preliminary chemical investigation and reactionof each part of Prosopis stephaniana was studied.
