Comparative clinicopathological studies on some antioxidant agents used as additives for food stuffs

Abstract:
One hundred and ten rats were used in this experiment. Two equal groups , each of fifty rats were done . The first group was used for butylated hydroxy anisole (BRA) studies and the second for butylated hydroxy toluene ( BHT) . Each of the antioxidants wasecond, third, fourth weeks and 2 months of post administration.Blood and serum samples were collected to study the haematological and biochemical changes respectively. Tissue specimens were colllected for histopathological techniques.In both groups , the haematologic picture was normocyticnormochromic anaemia . This type of anaemia was attributed to renaldiseases as a result to the effect of antioxidants on the kidneys.Leucopenia with neutropenia, eosinopenia, lymphopenia andmonocytopenia were also seen and was attributed to bone marrowdepression. The c1inicobiochemical analysis showed a picture ofhepatocellular jaundice. The hepatocellular jaundice was manifested
